Mix of Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) and Photovoltaics would be an ideal complement to produce hydrogen in areas with low cloud cover and high solar irradiation, while alkaline electrolyzers show lower specific costs for H2V.

The tool identifies 57 strategic locations in northern Chile for free, determining the generation of electricity to supply an electrolysis plant up to the storage and transportation costs of the H2V generated. It will also have a low-cost customizable section that will allow simulating parameters according to the needs of each client, in a georeferenced manner.

On the way to finding solutions to protect water and benefit small farming communities, the Secretary of State and Delegate for Climate Action of the German Foreign Ministry, Jennifer Morgan, visited Fraunhofer Chile's Floating Photovoltaic pilot plant in Paine last Saturday. This successful project is financed by FIC-R of the Metropolitan Regional Government, and the visit is part of the agenda of activities of the Secretary of State, together with the German Ambassador to Chile, Irmgard Maria Fellner.

In a joint event organised by the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy Systems Technology, Fraunhofer IEE, Fraunhofer Chile and the Energy Centre of the University of Chile, the Spanish version of the "Global PtX Atlas" was launched. This is a freely accessible online application that shows global potential for Power-to-X technologies at coastal and inland locations outside the European Economic Area.
